I began as a First Assistant Director under the veteran R.K. Selvamani — learning cinema from the inside out. What followed were two decades across fiction and non-fiction, television and OTT, independent film and international festival circuits.
As Executive Producer at Star Vijay Television, I shaped Tamil television's most-watched programmes. As a film producer under Karuvachy Films, I produced Maadathy: An Unfairy Tale, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2019 and earned critical acclaim worldwide.
Then I asked myself a harder question: what if the tools of cinema — immersion, narrative, emotional stakes — could be turned toward learning? Specifically, toward the hundreds of millions of young people in India who sit through classrooms designed to make knowledge forgettable.
That question became Karkei — an AR-based experiential learning platform that makes education feel as gripping as a first-rate film. No expensive headsets. No infrastructure overhaul. Just immersive AR and a methodology built around how humans actually learn: through experience, not repetition.
Alongside Karkei, I run ERA Foundation — building climate-conscious learners in Chennai. Because the climate emergency is not a future problem, and our children deserve education that treats it that way.
